Broken hearted and footed.

Brooklyn was moving a balance beam at gymnastics and it slipped out of her hand and  landed right on her foot. It was a little bitter sweet for this child of mine. On the one hand I think getting crutches was secretly a dream come true for her. This is the girl who always has some part of her body wrapped up in an ace bandage, and her face did kind of light up when the Dr. walked in the room with crutches for her. But on the other hand, it was really bad timing. We were leaving early the next morning for a dance convention/competition in Ogden. Brooklyn's team wasn't competing but we signed her up to take classes. She was in tears when I told her she probably wasn't going to be able to go now that her foot was broken. She begged me to still come along and watch and promised me that she would be alright. After a day of hobbling around Ogden with sore armpits I think she realized that crutches weren't all that they're cracked up to be. So she spent most of the time laying around the hotel room watching tv and resting, which she was more than happy to do. She was a little trooper! And even though she was sad she wasn't able to dance, I'm pretty sure this made up for it...

She did say it was the best day of her life :) She also told me a few days ago that she didn't realize how much she loved dance until she couldn't do it. It won't be long before she is back at it! But until then, she does look pretty cute on those crutches!

100 years.

Jace's class celebrated their one hundredth day of school by dressing up as their one hundred year old self.

I am laughing out loud as I post these pictures.

I tried to get him to smile. Apparently 100 year old people don't smile. They just walk around with a pained expression on their face.

Spring break Utah style.

We crashed my sister's house for our week of fun. We stayed up late, ate out lots, had fun playing with cousins, found out that everybody goes to IKEA on Tuesdays, shopped in Park City, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Girl's trip-October 2011

Amy and I took our older girlies on a little weekend getaway. My mom came along to join in on the fun as well. We flew in to LA Wednesday morning and stayed the weekend with my Aunt Meri. There's something about that place that I absolutely love. It is one of my most favorite places. The sight of the "Welcome to El Segundo" sign, the narrow, rolling streets, the smell of her laundry room and the ocean, and the constant sound of airplanes overhead. It brings back memories of summer vacations. It is nostalgia at its finest.

We actually took this trip last year so it has become somewhat of a tradition. Here's how the tradition goes: Wednesday we eat lunch at in-n-out, shop at H&M, and have dinner at BJ's. Thursday we head down to the American Girl store and spend almost the entire day there. This place is a doll's dream. They have everything miniature that a doll could ever want, and it only costs a small fortune. It is pretty amusing to watch the girls fill their bags up with all their favorite outfits and then sit down and try them on their doll until they find the perfect one (or two, thanks to grandma!). Meri meets us with her girls and we have lunch at the cafe. When we get back to Meri's, the girls run downstairs and set up American Girl world and play the rest of the night and we finish off the day with Tito's tacos for dinner!

And of course we can't go to southern California without spending a day at Disneyland. This year we got tickets to Mickey's Halloween party and I am so glad we did! This is definitely the way to do Disneyland. Less crowds, trick-or-treating, spooky music, a villain parade, fireworks, costumes, and a huge bag of candy! We hardly had to wait in any lines, it was awesome!
